On December 19, a significant milestone for Kazakhstan’s industrial sector was reached in Almaty with the opening of the country’s first manufacturing facility dedicated to the production of radiation-modified heat-shrinkable materials.
The implementation of this project was made possible through the support of ECOTEC Engineering, the Satbayev Kazakh National Research Technical University, the "Science Fund" JSC, and the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) "Park of Innovative Technologies 'Alatau'." This synergy of science, engineering expertise, and manufacturing competence has resulted in a modern technological platform tailored to the needs of the infrastructure and industrial sectors.
The new facility specializes in the production of radiation-modified heat-shrinkable sleeves and tapes designed for the insulation and anti-corrosion protection of welded pipeline joints. These products enhance the reliability of pipeline systems, reduce the risk of accidents, and extend service life. The launch of domestic production in Kazakhstan promotes import substitution, fosters export potential, and strengthens the country's technological independence.
"This project clearly demonstrates how the synergy of science, engineering, and manufacturing allows for the creation of competitive technological solutions. For ECOTEC Engineering, it is especially important that the production of heat-shrinkable materials is carried out in close cooperation with the scientific community, laying a solid foundation for the further development of the industry," stated Anuar Dukumbayev, Director of ECOTEC Engineering.
During the event, guests toured the technological production zones and quality control processes. They also attended a project presentation and a demonstration of heat-shrinkable sleeve installation utilizing VR technology.
The opening ceremony brought together representatives from government agencies, the scientific and expert communities, development institutions, and the business sector. Honored guests included representatives from the Akimats (local government), the Majilis (Parliament), the leadership of Satbayev University, the SEZ "PIT," national companies, and various investment and industry organizations.
We express our gratitude to all partners and guests for their support and participation in this vital stage of Kazakhstan’s industrial infrastructure development. We are confident that this project will serve as a robust foundation for the further implementation of innovative technologies and the growth of high-tech manufacturing in the country.
